Lea Chevrier, a 5-8 right-hander, is from Saint-Lazare, Quebec, Canada. She was a National All-Star Team selection after throwing 139 innings and striking out 213 as a senior. She helped Team Quebec to a 2nd place finish at the National Championships in 2019 and a 2nd place finish at the Summer Canada Games in 2022. More recently, she has pitched for Florida Southwestern State, which was recently ranked No. 4 in the NJCAA Top 20 Rankings. She went 13-2, with a 2.05 earned-run average and 113 strikeouts for the Buccaneers in 2022-23 and is currently . . . Miami gives Chuck Martin five-year extension OXFORD, Ohio – On Thursday, April 11, Miami's Director of Athletics David Sayler announced that Chuck Martin has agreed to a five-year contract extension that runs through the 2029 football season. This past year Martin was named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year after leading the RedHawks to an 11-3 campaign that included a win over Toledo in the MAC Championship Game. The 11-win season, second-most in program history, featured rivalry victories over Cincinnati, Ohio and Ball State, as Miami defeated a Power Five team on the road for the second consecutive season. Since 2016, Miami is 42-17 versus MAC schools, best in the conference over the past eight years, which includes a second MAC Championship for . . . Fourth inning rally lifts MU to 16th straight win INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Miami was shutout in six of seven innings Tuesday, but a four-run fourth allowed the RedHawks to defeat Butler 4-2 at the Butler Softball Field. It was the 16th straight victory for Miami (29-6) and 10th for freshman pitcher Madelyn Reeves (10-2). Sydney Cammons (6-9) took the loss for Butler (17-21). Cammons was one of three Bulldog hurlers who combined to hold MU to six hits. Four of them came in the decisive fifth inning. Reagan Bartholomew opened the frame with a double to right center. OXFORD, OH -- Miami's offense totaled 19 runs, while the pitching shut out Bowling Green twice as the RedHawks battered Bowling Green twice Tuesday at the Miami Softball Stadium. Madilyn Reeves (11-2) tossed her first career no-hitter in the first game, which MU won 10-0 in six innings.
