By MIKE SMITH
OXFORD, OH --
Two games into a four-game home stand, the Miami RedHawks have wins to show for both their opportunities. The latest came Tuesday as MU downed Jackson State 95-78. Technically, it marked the first "win streak" of the Travis Steele area as Miami won back-to-back games for the first time this year while raising its overall record to 3-4. The loss dropped JSU to 0-6 -- all on the road.

Beyond their victory, however, the RedHawks . . .

Offense clicks early as MU downs Little Rock
By MIKE SMITH
OXFORD, OH --
Good starts have been hard to come by for the Miami RedHawks basketball team so far this year, but MU got out of the gates quickly Saturday, and that launched the RedHawks on the way to an eventual 80-67 over Little Rock at Millett Hall.
It was Miami's second win of the season and followed three straight losses to strong opponents last week.

"It was really good to get out and practice this week," said Miami Coach Travis Steele, whose squad had more time for instructive practice leading up to the Little Rock matchup. "We had three good days of practice," Steele continued. "I thought we really cleaned up our offensive end. I thought our ball (movement) ws the best it's moved all year."

Senior guard Mekhi Lairy led the way with 25 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. He was joined . . .

OXFORD, OH --
Ball State held a 17-3 lead midway through the third quarter, but the Miami RedHawks fought back late to pull out an 18-17 win Tuesday night at Yager Stadium.

With the victory, Miami (4-4 MAC, 6-6 overall) secured a spot in the Hometown Lenders Bahamas Bowl. That game will be played Dec. 16, with MU's opponent to be named at a later date. Ball State (3-5 MAC, 5-7 overall) came into the game knowing the winner would get the bowl spot. Tuesday was BSU's third -- and final -- shot to secure bowl eligibility with a sixth win. However, it finished the campaign with three straight losses.

After taking leads of 14-0 and 17-3, the . . .
