OXFORD, OH -- Two games into a four-game home stand, the Miami RedHawks have wins to show for both their opportunities. The latest came Tuesday as MU downed Jackson State 95-78. Technically, it marked the first "win streak" of the Travis Steele area as Miami won back-to-back games for the first time this year while raising its overall record to 3-4. OXFORD, OH -- Good starts have been hard to come by for the Miami RedHawks basketball team so far this year, but MU got out of the gates quickly Saturday, and that launched the RedHawks on the way to an eventual 80-67 over Little Rock at Millett Hall. It was Miami's second win of the season and followed three straight losses to strong opponents last week. "It was really good to get out and practice this week," said Miami Coach Travis Steele, whose squad had more time for instructive practice leading up to the Little Rock matchup. "We had three good days of practice," Steele continued. "I thought we really cleaned up our offensive end. I thought our ball (movement) ws the best it's moved all year." RedHawks to face UAB in Bahamas Bowl NASSAU, Bahamas -- The HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl announced on Saturday evening that the Miami University football team will play the University of Alabama at Birmingham on Friday, Dec. 16. Opening kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m. and will be carried live on ESPN.
The HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl is Miami's 14th bowl appearance in program history. It marks the third consecutive full season Miami has played in a bowl game, competing in the 2020 Lending Tree Bowl and the 2021 Frisco Football Classic. With the victory, Miami (4-4 MAC, 6-6 overall) secured a spot in the Hometown Lenders Bahamas Bowl. That game will be played Dec. 16, with MU's opponent to be named at a later date.
