Basketball schedule update, Phil Steele football notes ![]() CLEVELAND, Ohio – On Tuesday afternoon, the Mid-American Conference announced that the Miami University men's basketball team will host Old Dominion in the MAC versus Sun Belt Challenge on Monday, Nov. 3. It will be the third time that the two programs have faced off. The RedHawks posted a 2-0 record in last season's challenge, earning victories over Appalachian State (77-63) and Troy (69-62). Later on in the 2025-26 season, the Red and White will travel to take on a Sun Belt opponent. It was good to get a least a little news on the basketball schedule front. For just the fourth time in school history, Miami captured BOTH the Reese and Jacoby trophies in the same calendar year. The trophies reflect overall Mid-American Conference athletic supremacy, with points earned via schools' respective finishes in the standings for each sport. Results suggest the observation was pretty accurate. Miami stayed alive in the Knoxville regional Saturday with a 4-3 win over North Carolina. RedHawks tame Tar Heels stay alive in NCAA tourney ![]() KNOXVILLE, TN - Jenna Golembiewski homered to ignite a four-run second inning, and Madilyn Reeves bounced back with a winning performance as Miami edged North Carolina 4-3 Saturday in NCAA Tournament action. With the victory, Miami stayed alive and will face Ohio State in a game scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET. The Buckeyes are coached by former RedHawk Head Coach Kiran Kumar, who took over the OSU program this year. The Buckeyes are one of the nation's top offensive teams. Likewise, North Carolina entered the NCAA tourney with its best run production in program history. Ultimately, it would take the same for the RedHawks to win the 2025 MAC tourney. They found a way. Madilyn Reeves (23-11) scattered eight hits and Miami (35-24) blasted two home runs during an 8-2 RedHawks victory over Ohio (37-19) Saturday at Firestone Stadium. Reeves struck out the side in the seventh to nail down a victory that gave MU it's fourth straight MAC Tournament title and a spot in the NCAA tournament. Sunday's selection . . .
