Fourth inning rally lifts MU to 16th straight win INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Miami was shutout in six of seven innings Tuesday, but a four-run fourth allowed the RedHawks to defeat Butler 4-2 at the Butler Softball Field. It was the 16th straight victory for Miami (29-6) and 10th for freshman pitcher Madelyn Reeves (10-2). Sydney Cammons (6-9) took the loss for Butler (17-21). Cammons was one of three Bulldog hurlers who combined to hold MU to six hits. Four of them came in the decisive fifth inning. Reagan Bartholomew opened the frame with a double to right center. Hadley Parisien then followed with an RBI single. That evened the score at 1-1, with Butler's score coming in the first inning. Miami took the lead with . . . . . . one out when Jenna Golembewski singled in Parisien. Karli Spaid then drew a four-pitch walk and Holly Blaska reached on a Butler error to load the bases. Kate Kobayashi followed with a single down the left field line to score two and give Miami a 4-1 lead.
Butler got one back in the bottom half, taking advantage of a leadoff walk, stolen base and Miami error to see up Kaylee Gross' steal of home. However, Reeves struck out the side in the sixth and stranded one Bulldog runner in the final inning.
