FOOTBALL Miami grid fans have just one more week to get a first hand look at the 2024 RedHawks. The annual Spring Showcase, presented by Raising Cane's, will be held on Saturday, April 20 at the Dauch Indoor Sports Center (DISC), beginning at 11 a.m. ET. The annual equipment sale will befgin at 8 a.m. in the DISC. However, keep in mind Miami is a "cashless" campus. Bring the plastic if you intend to buy anything -- including food! Beginning at 10:30 a.m., Swoop's Fan Fest with games and activities for the younger fans will be available, and the One Stop Shop table will be set up to purchase 2024 season tickets, parking and more! Fans can also stop by the table to pick up an updated Miami Football roster. Concessions can be purchased at the food truck, located on the back side of the DISC (by the loading dock door), beginning at 10:30 a.m. MEN'S BASKETBALL >> Two RedHawk basketball players have apparently entered the tranfer portal, according to posts on X. Center Jaquel Morris and guard Ryan Mabry were significant contributors during 2023-24. Morris appeared in 31 games. He averaged 3.9 rpg and 5.3 ppg. Mabry appeared in 26 contests, averaging 6.8 ppg. Coming into the MU program is Kam Craft, a 6-5 shooting guard who saw limited action at Xavier before suffering a knee injury in Feb. 2023. HOCKEY >> Miami has hired a new men's hockey coach. Anthony Noreen was the head coach of the Tri-City Storm in the United States Hockey League (since 2017) and was also the Storm's president of Hockey Operations (since 2019). He has been involved with USA Hockey for nearly a decade. According to Athletic Director David Saylor, the head coaching change is a step toward restoring Miami to a place of prominence in college hockey, both inside its conference and on the national stage. Noreen promised an 'unwavering' belief that the Red and White can accomplish exactly that, repeatedly referencing the program's proud Brotherhood tradition (and his own secondhand ties to Miami's history via mentor Wil Nichol, a former RedHawk graduate assistant). Noreen replaces Chris Bergeron, a former Miami standout player who compiled a 206-270-60 record while head coach of his alma mater. Bergeron, who took the helm in 2019, replaced Enrico Blasi (HC at MU 1999-2019). MORE at miamiredhawks.com Comments are closed.
