Gabbert enters transfer portal It looks like Brett Gabbert's time in a RedHawk uniform is done. A tweet by @BrettGabbert Wednesday announced the move and included thanks to Miami teammates and coaches. He still has two years of eligibility remaining, thanks in part to this season counting as a redshirt year. He was . . . . . . injured in the 2022 opener at Kentucky and returned later for three more games before sustaining another injury on Miami's last play against Ohio. Freshman Aveon Smith took over and, while not possessing Gabbert's passing/experience skill set, leaned on strong running skills while guiding MU to five wins and a bowl game. Gabbert earned Freshman of the Year honors in 2019 and led the RedHawks to a MAC Championship that season. For his career, he completed 450 of 765 attempts (58.8%), tossing 45 TDs with 14 interceptions. Comments are closed.
