MU win streak reaches 19 with sweep of Bulls BUFFALO, NY -- Miami erupted for 13 hits and 12 runs to route Buffalo 12-0 Saturday, completing a double-header sweep of UB at Nan Harvey Field. The RedHawks took Game One 8-5. With Friday's 10-1 victory over Buffalo, Miami swept the series, raising MU's Mid-American Conference record to 9-0 on the campaign. The three victories also helped Miami (25-6) extend its current overall winning streak to 13 games. Buffalo fell to 3-4 MAC (11-13 overall). Freshman Ashley Hitchcock (7-3) picked up the win in Game One,tossing 3.2 inning in relief of starter Madilyn Reeves. However, Reeves (10-2) came . . . . . . back in Game 2, allowing just two hits while throwing the five-inning shutout.
GAME ONE: -- MU jumped in front on Sami Bewick's two-run homer in the second. However, Buffalo tallied one in the bottom half. -- Miami plated three runs in the third. Sami Bewick drove in two with a single and later scored on a Bulls error. Buffalo had four errors in the contest. -- The hosting Bulls had their biggest inning of the day in the fourth, scoring four runs to tie the contest at five all. Mia Mitchell's two-run homer highlighted the uprising. -- The game remained tied until the seventh when Miami rallied for three runs. Bewick, who went 3-for-3 and had five RBI's in the contest, singled in the first run. Reagan Bartholomew and Allie Cummins followed with RBI singles. NOTES: Miami left nine players on base, while UB stranded 10 ... Buffalo coaxed eight walks out of RedHawk pitching... Bewick (3/3), Blaska (2/3) and Bartholomew (2/4) recorded multiple-hit performances in the contest. GAME TWO: -- Holly Blaska started a productive day with a three-run first inning home run. She would finish with three hits in four at bats, driving in four. -- Jenna Golembiewski, meanwhile, started a five RBI game with two-run second-inning shot. Blaska followed with a double to score Karli Spaid, and Kate Kobayashi drove in Blaska with another single. Kobayashi capped the inning when she scored on UB's only error of the game. -- Miami used the long ball for its final three runs -- all coming in the third inning. Golembiewski hit a three-run blast to left, and Spaid followed with a solo shot. NOTES: Cummins went 3/4. Other Miami multiple hit performers were Golembiewski (2/3), Spaid (2/4), Blaska (3/4) and Hadley Parisien (2/2)... Reeves allowed two hits in four innings of work, striking out three and walking three while picking up the win. Jarvis went the final inning, walking three but leaving the bases loaded with no runs scoring... Spaid (20) and Golembiewski (19) top the D-I nation in home runs. Comments are closed.
