RedHawks rally back to defeat Ohio in Game 1 Hold off Bobcat rally in second game OXFORD, OH -- Ohio built up a 4-1 lead before Miami scored the final nine runs in a 10-4 RedHawks victory Friday at the Softball Stadium. It was the first game of a three-game series between the MAC's top two teams in a coaches preseason poll. Madilyn Reeves (6-2) picked up the win for Miami (20-6, 4-0 MAC), while Skipp Miller (7-9) took the loss. Reeves went five innings, allowing seven hits and four runs. Ashley Hitchcock followed with two hitless innings. Holly Blaska and Reagan Bartholomew stroked three hits apiece, with each belting a home run to lead the offense. Hadley . . . . . . Parsien contributed a solo shot of her own. The visiting Bobcats jumped in front with two first inning runs. After loading the bases on three straight singles to open the frame, one run scored when Emma Hoffner was hit by a pitch. Two outs later, Lauren Yuhas came home on a walk to Brenna Farme. Further damage was avoided when Izzie Wilson lined out to second. Miami got one run back in the bottom half when Karlie Spaid doubled in in pinch runner Maddi Banks. Ohio moved its lead to 4-1 with single tallies in the second and third innings. The latter came on a Shelby West homer to left. Spaid opened the Miami third with a double and three straight singles plated two runs. Kobayashi scored the third run on a passed ball, and a Batholomew single brought home one more to move Miami in front 5-4. After a scoreless fourth inning, Miami added three in the fifth and two in the sixth. Four of the runs came on homers, while Bartholomew singled in the day's final run. GAME TWO MIAMI 16, OHIO 13
After Ohio put three on the board to start the contest, Miami answered with 10 runs in the bottom of the first. The Bobcats got four back in the second, while Miami answered with two more to make it a 12-7 slugfest after just two innings. The RedHawks added two in the third and one in the fourth to go up 15-7. However, Ohio put a five-spot on the board in the fifth, pulling the visitors within three. Each team scored one more run -- Miami in the fifth and Ohio in the sixth. The Bobcats outhit MU 17-15 overall. However, neither team hit a home run. Ashley Hitchcock (6-3) got the win, despite allowing 15 hits and 12 earned runs over 4.1 innings. Addy Jarvis went 2.1 innings, giving up one run on two hits while picking up a save. Dllie Greene (0-1) took the loss, surrendering four hits and seven runs. Miami raised its record to 21-6, 5-0 MAC.
