RedHawks make it four straight with DH wins By MIKE SMITH TULSA, OK -- Miami banged out 26 hits on the day and Addy Jarvis threw a five-hit shutout in the second game as the RedHawks softball team posted two run-rule wins Sunday at the Collins Family Softball Complex. Miami defeated Missouri Kansas City (6-13) 16-6 in the first game and followed with an 8-0 win over Tulsa in Game Two. With the victories, MU ran its season record to 13-3. Jenna Golembieski (5) and Karli Spaid (6) combined for five hits and 11 RBIs in the win over Kansas City. Five RedHawks had multiple-hit days. Allie Cummins and Golembiewski led the way with three hits and a walk for each player. Freshman pitcher Madilyn Reeves (3-1) went the distance, striking out 12 while allowing nine hits and six runs (5 earned) in five innings for the win. Kansas City jumped in front with three runs in the top of the first. However, MU responded with 11 runs in the bottom of the frame. Spaid and Kobayashi drilled three-run shots in the onslaught. UMKC got one run back in the second, but Miami answered with two more. The bats cooled as neither team scored in the third. However, UMKC made it a 13-6 game with two in the fifth. When Miami tallied three in the bottom of the inning, it secured a run-rule victory. GAME TWO: MIAMI 8, TULSA 0 Kate Kobayashi, Chloe Parks and Hadley Parisien led MU's 10-hit attack with two hits apiece. Shorstop Reagan Bartholomew drove in three with her second home run of the season. Addy Jarvis (6-1) scattered five hits while striking out three in five innings. Ater a scoreless first, Miami scratched out single runs in the second and third innings. Bartholomew's three-run homer highlighted the four-run fourth. A Kobayashi double and Sami Bewick's single drove in single runs that pushed Miami's lead to 8-0. The game ended on a run rule after Tulsa went down 1-2-3 in the bottom half. Comments are closed.
