RedHawks take pair from Rockets TOLEDO, OH -- Madilyn Reeves tossed a first game 8-0 shutout, and No. 21 Miami added a 10-4 Game Two victory Tuesday as the RedHawks swept Toledo at Scott Park. With the wins, MU raised its season record to 42-7 (23-1 MAC). Miami has now won six straight and wraps up its regular season Saturday/Sunday with a three-game series at Northern Illinois. Toledo, meanwhile, fell to 22-21 overall (12-10 MAC). GAME ONE: MIAMI 8, TOLEDO 0
-- Neither team scored until the third when Miami pushed across two runs. Both came on solo homers as Karli Spaid and Jenna Golembiewski went long. -- After UT went down in order, MU came back for more in the top of the fourth. Chloe Parks opened with a walk. Reagan Bartholomew, who went 3-for-3 followd with a double to left. Parks was able to score on Hadley Parisian's fielder's choice. Bartholomew scored on an Allie Cummins single, but UT threw out Parisian at the plate. Kate Kobayashi walked before a Spaid fly out. Holly Blaska then singled in Cummins to put the visitors up 5-0. That became 8-0 one batter later when Golembiewski smacked a 3-run homer. Neither team scored after that. -- Reeves allowed just three hits while raising her record to 18.3. -- Golembiewski (2) and Spaid homered for Miami. -- Spaid tied the MAC career RBI record with 246. -- Golembiewski became the MAC's new single season RBI record holder with 74 after driving in four RedHawks in Game One. GAME TWO: MIAMI 10, TOLEDO 4 -- MU opened scoring in the second with Cummins scoring on a Parks ground out. -- Toledo took its only lead of the day in the bottom half when Kendra Vanderlugt hit a two-run homer. -- Miami tied the game at 2-2 with Kobayashi scoring on Golembiewski's fielders choice. -- Each team scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Rocket runs came on a Jenna Kroll solo shot and a Miami error with two runners on base. However, UT would not score again and was held to one hit over the final three turns at bat. -- Miami added single scores in the sixth and seventh frames. Both game on home runs as Bartholomew and Blaska opened each inning with solo shots. -- Pitcher Addy Jarvis raised her record to 16-1, surrendering four runs (three earned) on four hits with two walks and four Ks.
