Miami SB moves to 14-6 with Saturday split ATHENS, GA -- RedHawk hitters combined for 14 hits over two games as Miami split a double header with No. 7 Georgia and Furman Saturday at Jack Turner Stadium.. Miami led the Bulldogs 4-3 through five innings in the opener. However, UGA tallied three times in the sixth to pull out a 6-4 win. Madilyn Reeves pitched seven strong innings of three-hit, shutout softball to lead MU to a 5-0 win over Furman in Game Two. -- After getting run-ruled by UGA Friday, the RedHawks stayed with the Bulldogs Saturday. Holly Blaska doubled in two runs in the first, but Georgia game back with three in its half. -- Neither team scored again until the fifth when Miami regained the lead with two runs. Karli Spaid singled in Allie Cummins for the first and Golembiewski scored on a fielders choice for the other run. -- Ashley Hitchcock (4-3) took over for starter Addy Jarvis with one out in the fifth and MU got out of the inning unscathed. However, three straight hits to open the Georgia sixth scored two runs. Reeves relieved Hitchcock, but the Bulldogs managed to add two more runs. Miami stranded one runner in the seventh. -- Hitchcock took the loss for Miami. Lilli Backes (7-1) picked up the win. GAME TWO: MIAMI (14-6) 5, FURMAN (10-11) 0 -- MU got back in the win column behind Reeve's 3-hit shutout. Golembiewski led the offense with three hits. -- Neither team scored until the third when Cummins hit a two-run homer to right field.
