Eleven homers among 30 hits as Miami sweeps CMU

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI -- Miami hitters blasted 11 homers and Madilyn Reeves (15-2) tossed a one-hit shutout in Game One as the No. 24 RedHawks swept a double header with Central Michigan Saturday at Margo Jonker Stadium. MU cruised by CMU 16-0 in the first game, with Holly Blaska hitting three homers. Addy Jarvis (12-1) picked up the win in Game Two, surrendering four hits and five runs (3 earned) in a 15-6 RedHawks triumph.

With the victories, MU extended its current winning streak to (a MAC record) 23 games while remaining unbeaten (18-0) in Mid-American Conference action. Miami is . . .

GAME ONE: MIAMI 16, CENTRAL MICHIGAN 0
-- MU exploded for seven runs in the first inning. Karli Spaid, Holly Blaska, Sami Bewick and Hadley Parisien all homered. For Spaid, her 93rd homer of the season moved her into sole possession of third place on the NCAA career home run list. She would hit No. 94 in Game Two. 
- Blaska stroked her second long ball of the game in the second inning, and MU added an unearned run to hold a 7-0 lead. 
- After a scoreless third, the RedHawk offense again posted a seven-run inning. Parisien's second homer of the game and Blaska's third circuit shot each provided three of the scores. 
-- Central Michigan's only hit of the contest came in the fourth inning when Alyssa Hollo opened the frame with a double. 
-- Reeves finished off a run-rule victory with a 1-2-3 fifth inning.

GAME TWO: MIAMI 15, CENTRAL MICHIGAN 6
-- Chippewas pitcher Brooklyn Compau kept MU off the board through three innings. Meanwhile, the CMU offense capitalized on two Miami errors to tally three runs in the third. 
-- Two hits and another Miami error helped Central Michigan score two third inning runs, putting the hosts up 5-0. 
-- Miami's offense finally got on track in the fourth, responding with its third seven-run inning of the day. Three walks, three hits and an error had already led to four runs before Bewick capped the rally with a three-run homer. 
-- Spaid's solo home run to right center gave MU an 8-5 edge. 
-- Homers by Bewick and Cummins highlighted a three-run sixth inning for Miami.
-- Three RBI singles led to three of four MU runs in the seventh. Central Michigan managed a final run on Skylar Coberley's RBI double. ​
