Wildcat inside game overwhelms RedHawks DAVIDSON, NC -- Davidson outscored visiting Miami 32-4 in the paint during first half play and went on to post a 79-61 win over the RedHawks Saturday at John M. Belk Arena. It was the fourth straight win for Davidson (7-3), while Miami (4-5) dropped its second straight. The hosting Wildcats had hoped to get off to a good start, and achieved that goal with six quick points before MU scored. By the 11:33 mark, Davidson owned a double digit lead (17-6). Controlling the paint at both ends, the Wildcats out-rebounded MU 23-10 and connected on 54.8 percent from the field while building a 40-22 halftime advantage. Mabry came off the bench to lead Miami with 15 points. He connected on 6 of 10 from the field and 3 of 7 outside the arc. Hunter (14 points) was the only other RedHawk in double figures. Grant Huffman and Reed Bailey led Davidson with 19 points each. The latter went 12 for 12 at the line. As a team, the Wildcats made all 14 of their charity tosses. NOTES: -- Davidson was especially dominant in close before intermission but finished the day with a 48-12 advantage in points in the paint. It also registered a 14-4 edge in second chance points. -- The RedHawks shot 29.6 percent from the field before intermission but finished at 37.3 percent. Davidson connected on 48.4 percent overall. -- Miami struggled -- especially early -- trying to score inside.
