It has no three-game winning streaks and to reach that mark, the RedHawks will have to tame a Bowling Green team that has won 10 of its last 11. With the victory, MU evened both its season mark (8-8) and MAC record (2-2). Eastern Michigan fell to 8-8 overall and 1-3 in MAC play. Joining Elmer in double figures for MU were forward Bryson Bultman and Anderson Mirambeaux. Bultman, a junior forward. tallied 14 points and registered team highs in rebounds (8) and assists (6). Two of those conference games went into overtime, with EMU splitting the pair. They fell at Bowling Green 92-90 to open MAC play and lost at home to Kent State 71-69 in another OT thriller. Eastern Michigan's last outing was an 80-64 home loss to Central Michigan. -- CMU shot 61.2 percent from the field and 64.7 percent on treys. Mirambeaux, offense click as MU routs Bulls By MIKE SMITH BUFFALO, NY -- If there was a lesson to be learned from last Friday's loss at Toledo, the Miami RedHawks probably deserve an "A" on their retest. There was no second-half fade this time as MU turned a two-point halftime lead into a impressive 86-65 win over Buffalo Tuesday at Alumni Arena. With its first MAC victory of 2023-24, Miami (1-2 MAC) raised its overall record to 7-8. UB dropped to 2-13 overall and 1-2 in MAC play. In the recent setback at Toledo, MU lost an 11-point halftime lead before falling 68-64. Against Buffalo, Miami turned up the heat after intermission. The RedHawks shot a withering 85.7 percent (18 of 21) from the field while outscoring UB 40-19 in the second period. That included four of five 3-point attempts. Anderson Mirambeau led the RedHawks, hitting 10 of 13 shots while scoring 21 points. Bryce Bultman hit all six of his shots from the field while scoing 14 points and dishing out six assists. RedHawks resume chase for first MAC win By MIKE SMITH GIFT WILL BENEFIT HOOPS PROGRAM Miami recently announced a plan to provide some additional financial assistance to RedHawk men's basketball team members. The $2 million gift from Alumni Brian and Jennifer Niccol supplements regular scholarship funds. Half ($5,980) of the funs go to each player in annual payments, provided the players meet academic qualifications and remain eligible. It was UT's 21st straight win against the RedHawks, who fell to 6-8 overall (0-2 MAC). Toledo is now 8-6 (2-0 MAC). Miami, which was playing without injured point guard Evan Ipsaro and guard Bradley Dean, committed just one turnover and shot 51.6 percent from the field before intermission. That helped the RedHawks build a 40-29 halftime advantage. It was, however, a different story in the second half when UT tightened its defense. Guards Seth Hubbard (17) and B. Artis White may have led Bronco scoring, but Western Michigan (4-9 (1-0 MAC) did much of its damage inside. Buoyed by the recent addition of former Texas A&M center Javonte Brown, the Broncos out-rebounded MU 40-27. The 7.0-footer registered five rebounds and three blocks hitting 4 of 5 shots from the field and scoring 12 points.
