Chevrier, RedHawks top Ohio to force 'final' showdown ![]() AKRON, OH -- Le'a Chevrier extended her string of shutout innings in the 2025 MAC tournament to 12 Saturday while hurling Miami (37-18) past Ohi(34-24) o 6-0 at Firestone Stadium. With the victory, MU forced a decisive game at 3:30 p.m. A MAC tourney trophy and NCAA tournament spot are at stake. It was Miami's first win against Ohio this year, and the RedHawks squeezed all six runs -- five against All-MAC First Team member Skipp Miller -- into the first inning. Ella Carter doubled in two runs. After a walk, Holly Merritt drilled a three-run homer to right field. Ohio replaced Miller with . . . . . . sophomore Mikie Lieving. She was greeted with an Erin Pinter home run to left center, but settled in and did not allow another run while finishing the contest. NOTES
• Chevrier (12-9) allowed five hits, issued two walks and hit a batter. She struck out two Bobcats while finishing with exactly 100 pitches over seven innings. • Chevrier was stuck by two batted balls during the game but was able to continue. • This was the fifth time Chevrier logged at least seven innings this year. The most recent were March 22 and 28 against Northern Illinois and Western Michigan, respectively. She threw a complete game Friday afternoon against Ball State, but that was a five-inning no-hitter. • Ohio stranded eight runners, while MU left four aboard. • Danitza Hernandez was the only RedHawk batter with multiple hits (2). • Miami batters recorded just one strikeout. They grounded out 12 times and flew out five. Eleven of the groundouts were induced by Lieving. Comments are closed.
