Late rally falls short at Kennesaw State KENNESAW, Ga. – On Tuesday afternoon, the Miami RedHawks softball team dropped a 4-3 contest to Kennesaw State University. HOW IT HAPPENED: In the bottom of the second, the Owls got on the board first, scoring on a triple. Kennesaw State added to its lead in the third inning with a run off a double, making it 2–0. The RedHawks responded . . . . . . in the top of the fifth, when Evey Dieudonne hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 2–1.
The Owls answered in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run home run, extending their lead to 4–1. Miami closed the gap in the top of the seventh, as Bailey Manos doubled to bring in Jeneva Mitchell and Campbell Beatty, making it a one-run game. The comeback fell just short, as the Owls held on for the 4–3 win. NOTES: Bailey Manos went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Evey Dieudonne went 1-for-2 with a home run and one RBI. UP NEXT: The RedHawks head to the Campbell Invitational this weekend and will face off against Radford at 12:30 p.m. and Campbell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, in Buies Creek, NC.
