Hosick spins one-hit gym as Miami shuts out CMU MOUNT PLEASANT, MI -- Presley Hosick (W,17-5) tossed a complete game one-hit shutout and the RedHawk offense totaled 12 hits in an 8-0 Miami (35-15, 16-8 MAC) victory over Central Michigan (23-20, 14-9 MAC) Sunday at Margo Jonker Stadium. It was MU's second win in the series and followed a split of Saturday's double header. The RedHawks, who ensured a MAC Tournament berth Saturday, are now in third place with a .667 conference winning percentage. Akron (18-5 (.792) and Northern Illinois (16-9, .727) hold the top two spots with one week left of regular season play. Miami finishes at home with three matchups against Bowling Green - one game Friday (3 p.m.) and two Saturday (1p.m. and 3 p.m.). Bailey Manos and . . . . . . Danitza Hernandez combined for six hits and seven RBIs to lead MU's offense Sunday against CMU. Hosick, meanwhile, struck out four and walked two during her five innings of work.
GAME ACTION • Three batters into the game, Miami owned a 2-0 lead. Manos opened with a single and stole second after a fly out. Hernandez then took a 2-2 pitch over the left field fence. • Another long ball provided three runs in the second. Evey Dieudonne and Erin Pinter singled before Manos homered to left center. Another single drove starter MacKenzie Langan (L,7-11) out, but Brooklyn Compau got CMU out of the jam without further damage. • Katy Olive and Dieudonne stroked back-to-back doubles in the third, giving Miami a 6-0 lead. • Hermandez' two-run double in the fourth provided the game's final runs, with MU holding an 8-0 lead. Neither team scored in the seventh, allowing Miami to claim a run-rule win. • Emma Lotus recorded CMU's only hit with an infield single in the second inning. • Joining Manos (3 hits) and Hernandez (3 hits) with multiple-hit games were Dieudonne and Pinter with two hits each. • Neither team committed an error.
