(MVSmith/MRO) By MIKE SMITH OXFORD, OH -- Senior Presley Hosick dominated Ohio for 6.2 innings. but the visiting Bobcats scored five runs after two were out in the seventh to claim a 5-3 win over Miami Tuesday at Miami Softball Stadium. Skipp Miller (13-5) picked up the win for Ohio (25-13) , scattering eight hits while allowing two runs. She struck out three and walked two. Hosick, meanwhile, fell to 9-2 on the campaign. Miami moves to 25-13 overall. Both teams are now 8-5 in Mid-American Conference play and will finish off their three-game series Wednesday with a double-header that begins at 1 p.m. Ohio threatened . . . However, when Izzie Wilson followed with a two-out single, Miami threw the lead runner out at home. Ohio threatened again in the second before stranding three runners for a two-inning total of five LOB. Miami loaded the bases with two singles and a Bobcat error in the bottom half. After a forceout at home, Ella Carter flied out to center. That brought McKenna Campbell home with the game's first run. The RedHawks added one more run in the fourth when Kari Krueger homered to right center with two out. That put the hosts up 2-0, and they carried that advantage to the seventh. Presley Hosick throws a pitch against Ohio. (MVSmith/MRO) Hosick got a groundout to start the inning. After Jordyn Wycuff's double, she struck out Rylee McDaniel in an 11-pitch battle. That put MU just one out away from victory, but troubles were lurking. Alexis Book singled and Belle Hummel doubled in two runs to tie the game. Colleen Bare and Brenna Farmer followed with back-to-back doubles to give Ohio a 4-2 lead. After giving up five hits (four exra base hits) in the inning, Hosick was replaced by Angelina Riciardi, who allowed an rbi single before ending the inning on a groundout to third. Miami tried to come back during its half of the seventh, and got consecutive one-out doubles from Bailey Manos and pinch hitter Evey Dieudonne to plate one-run. However, Miller got the next two batters on fly outs. NOTES:
• The Bobcats got six of their eight hits in the seventh inning. • Shelby Westler was the only Ohio batter with multiple hits (2). • Eight different Miami players had one hit. • MU left seven playes on base.
