RedHawks nip Falcons; close regular season Saturday OXFORD, OH -- Katy Olive's one-out double in the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie, and Miami (36-16, 17-8 MAC) held on to claim a 2-1 victory over Bowling Green (20-27, 6-18 MAC) Friday at the Miami Softball Complex. The RedHawks, who were shutout 4-0 at Dayton Tuesday, again struggled offensively, managing just three hits. Dayton was held to four hits and one run by Presley Hosick (,18-5), who struck out five and walked three over seven innings. Alyvia Roth (L, 2-7) took the loss for Bowling Green, pitching 5.1 innings with three walks and two HBP. She did not strike out a batter. Miami scored its . . . KATY OLIVE . . . first run just three pitches into its first turn at bat. Leadoff hitter Bailey Manos homered to right center. MU threatened again in the second as Olive was hit by a pitch. She was, however, erased on a double play. Two walks followed before a pop out ended the threat. A leadoff single, followed by a pair of two-out walks loaded the bases for BGSU in the fourth. Cameron Kaufman's single to left drove in one run, but the go-ahead run was thrown out at home. Bowling Green also threatened in the fifth. However, Hosick induced a one-out grounder and struck out another batter to strand two Falcons. The contest remained knotted at 1-1 until the fifth when Olive doubled in Danitza Hernandez. NEXT: Miami and Bowling Green wrap up their series -- and the regular season -- Saturday with a double header. Game One begins at 1 p.m., with Game Two scheduled for 3 p.m. Comments are closed.
