Sweep helps RedHawks secure first place By MIKE SMITH KALAMAZOO, MI -- Chloe Parks and Erin Pinter drove in all three runs and Madilyn Reeves (12-6) registered her 12th win of the season as Miami (19-6, 9-0 MAC) defeated Western Michigan (8-23, 2-4 MAC) 3-1 Saturday at Fran Ebert Field. The victory completed a series sweep and extended MU's current winning streak to seven games. With Ohio (22-9, 5-1 MAC) falling to Northern Illinois Saturday, the RedHawks are currently alone in first place. Reeves allowed eight . . . ![]() . . . hits but struck out six and did not walk a batter. Broncos starter Kaylee Salyer (0-6), meanwhile, lasted just one inning. She surrendered three runs on six hits before yielding to Casey Fazzini, who tossed six shutout innings while allowing just three hits. • Kaylee Oh and Shelby Kunkel opened the game with singles. After moving up a base, both scored on Chloe Parks' one-out single to center. • Erin Pinter opened the RedHawks second inning with a homer to center field. When Carter followed with a single, WMU brought Fazzini in to pitch. She not only got out of the inning without further damage, she finished the game without allowing another run. ![]() • Western Michigan's only run of the day came in the sixth inning. Inserted as a pinch hitter, Tristen Head responded with a homer to left. Reeves allowed one more single, but worked her way out of the inning and set the Broncos down 1-2-3 in the seventh. ** McKenna Campbell went 3-3 at the plate. ** Pinter was 2-for-3 with a homer ** Parks picked up her 100th career RBI.
