RedHawks split double header with Zips AKRON -- Despite giving up seven runs in the fourth inning, Miami (21-7, 3-3 MAC) rallied for an 8-7 Game Two win, earning a split with Akron (13-7, 5-1 MAC) in double header softball action Saturday. CLICK READ MORE TO CONTINUE . . . GAME TWO Evie Dieudonne doubled in Katy Olive in the sixth inning to break a 7-7 tie and give the RedHawks their win. Angelina Ricciardi, (9-3) who tossed 3.2 scoreless innings of relief, picked up the win. She struck out 1 and walked one while scattering three hits. Macy Walters (8-98) took the loss. She allowed just one run in three innings of relief, but that MU score proved decisive. Hernandez, Erin Pinter and Dieudone recorded three hits apiece. Dieudonne, Evey and Pinter homered, with the latter blasting two shots out. Evey had two doubles. GAME ONE The Zips roughed up Miami pitcher Presley Hosick, who was coming back from a recent layoff. She struck out two and walked five, surrendering six hits and eight runs (five earned) in 3.1 innings. Akron broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the third and five more in fifth inning. Both teams scored two runs in the fifth -- and final - inning. Walters (8-7) got the win. She held MU to just three runs on three hits while striking out one and walking four. Hernandez homered for Miami, while Mia Estrello and Madie Patton doubled. NEXT: Miami is scheduled to visit Marshall in a non-league matchup Tuesday (4 p.m.). The RedHawks then host Kent State for three weekend games. The first is Friday (3 p.m.). Saturday's double header begins at 1 p.m.
