RedHawks total 15 runs in Saturday sweep Nip Shockers, tame Tigers as win streak reaches nine COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Miami University softball team extended its win streak to nine games with a weekend sweep, earning an 8-7 comeback victory over Wichita State and a 7-2 win against Missouri on Saturday. CLICK READ MORE FOR DETAILS . HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1 vs Wichita) The Shockers opened up scoring at the top of the first, with two runs off a single. Miami responded in the bottom of the first, with Mia Estrello scoring off a sacrifice fly hit by Evey Dieudonne, 2-1. Witchita State continued their lead at the top of the second, hitting a two-run home run, 4-1. The RedHawks tied it up in the bottom of the second with Erin Pinter scoring off of a sacrifice bunt by Lindsey Miller. Katy Olive then hit a home run, bringing Leila Mathis in to score. WSU regained momentum at the top of the third with another two-run home run, followed by a sacrifice fly that added one more, stretching the lead to 7-4. In the bottom of the fourth, the RedHawks rallied. Miller led off the inning with a solo home run, and Olive followed with her second home run of the game to trim the deficit. Estrello later delivered an RBI single to score Kari Krueger, and Dieudonne capped the inning with an RBI double to right center, bringing Estrello home. The RedHawks stayed strong to win, final score 8-7. NOTES: Katy Olive went 2-for-3 at the plate with two home runs and three RBI. Mia Estrello finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and one RBI. Evey Dieudonne went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Lindsey Miller added a 1-for-2 at the plate with a home run and two RBI. HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2 vs Missouri) Miami got on the board at the top of the first with Bailey Manos scoring off a double, hit by Danitza Hernandez. The RedHawks continued their lead in the second, with Leila Mathis stealing home to make the score 2-0. Missouri responded in the bottom of the second with a home run, making the score 2-1. The RedHawks pulled away in the third, with a home run from Erin Pinter that also brought Evey Dieudonne and Hernandez in to score. Katy Olive then ran in during a grounded out, making the score 6-1. The Tigers put another run on the board at the bottom of the third, scoring off of a sacrifice fly, 6-2. Miami widened the gap in the fourth with a home run from Manos, 7-2. The RedHawks brought it home in the seventh inning with Pinter scoring off of a single, hit by Kari Kreuger. Final score, 7-2. NOTES: Léa Chevrier pitched a complete game, only allowing four hits and two runs. Erin Pinter went 2-for-4 at the plate, hit a home run and was credited with three RBI. Bailey Manos went 2-for-4 at the plate, hit a home run and was credited with one RBI. Danitza Hernandez went 2-for-3 at the plate, hit one double and was credited with one RBI.
