RedHawk softball sinks Norse, Jaguars RICHMOND, Ky. – The Miami University softball team kept their winning streak alive Friday afternoon, beating Northern Kentucky University 7-4 and Indiana University- Indianapolis 6-5. CLICK READ MORE FOR DETAILS . . . HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1 vs NKU) At the top of the first, the Norse got on the scoreboard, scoring off a fielder's choice. In the second, the Norse kept their lead going, hitting a two-run home run, 3-0. The RedHawks took the lead in the third inning, when Bailey Manos hit a home run, bringing Ella Carter and Leila Mathis home. Evey Dieudonne hit a grand slam, bringing Danitza Hernandez, Katy Olive and Erin Pinter home, making the score 7-3. Northern Kentucky scored once more in the fourth inning off a single. The final score was 7-4. NOTES: Evey Dieudonne went 2-for-3 at the plate, hit a grand slam and was credited with four RBI. Bailey Manos hit a home run and had three RBI. HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2 vs IU Indy) The Jaguars opened up the scoring at the top of the first inning, scoring off a double. In the bottom of the first, the Red and White responded with Evey Dieudonne hitting a single, allowing Mia Estrello to score, tying the game. In the second inning, the Jaguars stole home, scoring again. They then singled and scored, making the score 3-1. The Red and White scored once more at the bottom of the second, with Lindsey Miller hitting a home run, 3-2. The Jaguars widened the gap in the third inning, scoring twice off two walks, 5-2. The RedHawks made a comeback, with Estrello singling, allowing Mckenna Campbell to score in the fourth inning. In the fifth, Ella Carter scored off a sacrifice fly hit by Campbell. Mathis then scored off a single hit by Manos, tying the game 5-5. Danitza Hernandez hit a home run to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth, putting the RedHawks up for good. NOTES: Bailey Manos 2-for-4 at the plate, hit a double and was credited with one RBI. Mia Estrello went 2-for-4 and was credited with one RBI. Danitza Hernandez 2-for-4, with a home run and was credited with one RBI. Leila Mathis went 2-for-3 at the plate. Mckenna Campbell went 1-for-1 at the plate and had one RBI.
