Redhawks cruise past NKU; host Purdue Wednesday HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY -- Mia Estrello and McKenna Campbell combined for four hits and four RBIs as Miami topped Northern Kentucky 11-3 Tuesday at Grein Field. Presley Hosick picked up the win with three scorless innings. Lilana Arana (3 innings, 3 runs, 4 hits) and Shelbie Krieger (1.0 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit) finished in the circle as MU moved to 31-12 on the season. NKU fell to 15-21. Starter Abigail Byrd (4-4) took the loss, allowing six runs. Makaree Chapman, meanwhile, gave up five runs in four innings. The visiting RedHawks . . . . . . struck for three runs in the first, adding a single tally in the second and two more in the third for a 6-0 lead after three.
Northern Kentucky got on the board with one in the fourth and both teams scored twice in the sixth. Three MU runs in the seventh closed scoring on the day. • Bailey Mano set the tone early, opening the game with a triple to right center. She came home on a line out one batter later. Evey Dieudonne walked and Campbell belted her own triple to the gap in right center. That drove in MU's second run. Campbell came home two batters later on a ground out to second. • Ella Carter doubled to open Miami's second inning and advanced to third on an Estrello single. Carter raced home when the Norse picked off Estrello between first and second. • Kari Krueger's one-out triple in the third drove in one run and Erin Pinter's ground out scored pinch runner Leila Mathis for a 6-0 Miami advantage after three innings. • Arana replaced Hosick in the circle for MU to start the fourth and the junior was greeted with Brielle DiMemmo's homer to left field. Two more Norse reached base, but Arana stranded both runners. • After a scoreless fifth, Miami added two runs in the sixth inning. Danitza Hernandez drove in one with a triple to right center and one-out later scored on a wild pitch. • Northern Kentucky matched MU's two runs in the bottom half. One scored on Lexy Morris' fly out to left. Emma Ginn doubled in another runner • Now up 8-3, MU pushed across three more in the seventh. Madie Patton started the two-out rally when she was hit by a pitch. After a carter double, Estrello cleared the bases with her three-run homer. • Krieger pitched the final inning for Miami, allowing a one-out single before inducing a game-ending double play. NEXT: Miami hosts Purdue Wednesday (5 p.m.) THIS WEEKEND: MU hosts Ball State for a three-game series. Friday's contest is set to start at 3 p.m. NOTES: • Miami scored 11 runs on 10 hits. Seven RedHawks had at least one hit in the game. Three had two hits: Campbell, Carter and Estrello. • MU batters drew four walks and struck out just twice. • Miami pitchers walked one batter and struck out three while scattering seven hits. • The RedHawks have won five straight, outscoring opponents 53-10 over that span.
