RedHawk softball falls on walk-off homer AKRON, OH -- Visiting Miami (20-5, 2-2 MAC) blasted a pair of first inning homers to take an early 3-0 lead, but Akron (12-16, 4-0 MAC) fought back for a 4-3 victory Friday in the opener of a three-game series. Kicking it off in the first inning, Bailey Manos homered, bringing in the RedHawks' first run of the game. Danitza Hernandez then stepped up to the plate and homered with Mia Estrello on first base, bringing her home with her. RedHawks lead, 3-0. Bringing the score to 3-1 in the third, the Zips scored, unearned, off a fielding error. Tying the game up 3-3 in the fourth, the Zips scored twice off a single hit. The Zips hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to garner the victory. NOTES: Bailey Manos went 2-for-3 at the plate and had her 10th home run of this season. Angelina Ricciardi pitched 4.1 innings and only allowed two hits and two earned runs. UP NEXT: The RedHawks are back in Akron, Ohio, again tomorrow to take on a doubleheader against the Zips at 1 p.m. Comments are closed.
