RedHawks finish road schedule with wins over BGSU

BOWLING GREEN, OH -- Miami's offense erupted for a total of 24 hits and 22 runs Wednesday as the RedHawks softball team broke a four-game losing streak with a pair of wins over Bowling Green at Meserve Field. 

Shelby Kunkel and Kaylee Oh combined for five hits and five hits in MU's 10-4 first game victory. Sophomore Madi Reeves (19-10) went the distance in the circle, allowing four runs on seven hits. She struck out 10 and walked two. 

Le'a Chevrier evened her record at 9-9  with five shutout innings  in Miami's 12-0 Game Two victory. The junior allowed . . . 

. . . three hits, struck out three, walked two and hit one batter. Sophomore catcher McKenna Campbell led the MU offense, going 4 for 4 with four RBIs.

With the wins, Miami raised its record to 28-23 overall, 17-7 MAC. Bowling Green fell to 15-35, 7-19 MAC.

GAME ONE: MIAMI 10, BOWLING GREEN 4
• Miami opened scoring with Kunkel's solo home run in the top of the third inning. However, BGSU plated three runs on back-to-back homers in the bottom half. 
•  The RedHawks took advantage of two Falcon errors while scoring three runs early in the fourth inning. Kunkel capped the rally with a two-run blast to center, and Miami led 6-3. 
• BGSU got one run back in the fifth, taking advantage of a leadoff double by Ava McKee. She eventually scored on a two-out single by Addie Martin. 
•  MU got the run back in the sixth. After loading the bases on a single and two walks, Erin Pinter came home on a Parks fly out to left. 
•  Miami's offense used two hits, two walks and two HBP to score three final runs in the seventh. The first score on a bases-loaded walk to Danta Hernandez. Oh singled in two more. 
• Reeves finished off the win by getting three straight outs after a leadoff single.

GAME TWO: MIAMI 12, BOWLING GREEN 0
• MU struck early, scoring two runs through the first four batters. Kunkel walked, stole second and came home on Oh's double ro right. Campbell's single to center scored Oh. 
• Pinter's one-out double got MU started in the second. After a Henandez single, Kunkel drove in one with a single and Oh doubled in two more. Campbell's two-out RBI single to left put the visiting RedHawks up 6-0. 
• Jenna Golembiewski opened with a double and moved up on a ground out. When Pinter stole second with two out, Golembiewski raced home. 
• Three extra base hits helped Miami score five more runs in the fourth inning. Campbell's homer down the left field line provided the first two runs. 
After a Carter double, Golembiewski homered to left. Four batters later, Krueger singled to score Pinter to give Miami a 10-0 advantage. 
• Chevrier gave up one hit and two walks over the final two Falcon turns at the plate. However, BGSU was unable to score.
