(MVSmith/MRO) OXFORD, OH -- Presley Hosick (w,14-4) hurled Miami to a 7-3 Game One win, but Ball State battered the RedHawks 10-1 in Game two of a Mid-American Conference double header Friday at the Miami Sports Complex. With the split, MU moved its record to 32-14 (13-7 MAC). The Cardinals are now 17-24 (4-16 MAC). Hosick shut out BSU in six of seven innings. All three Cardinal runs came in the third when Ball State recorded four of its five hits. Miami's offense, meanwhile, totaled 12 hits and scored at least one run in five of six turns at the plate. Bailey Moss . . . Angelina Ricciardi was the Game Two starter. (MVSmith/MRO) . . . led MU with three hits. Mia Estrello and Ella Carter recorded two hits each. Manos, Estrello, Katy Olive and Carter all homered, while Danitza Hernandez tripled. Brinkley Kita (L,5-7) took the loss and was one of four Cardinal pitchers in the opener. Game Two was close through three innings as the visitors led 2-1. However, they broke the contest open with eight runs on just three hits in the fourth. Miami pitchers walked five and hit a batter as Ball State moved in front 10-1. Ironically, both teams finished the game with six hits. Bridie Murphy (W,5-5) got the win, working three scoreless innings. Grace Gray gave up one run in two innings. Cardinal pitching recorded just one strikeout, but it also walked just one batter. Angelina Ricciardi (L,10-7) took the loss for Miami. Eight of the 10 BSU runs were earned. She walked five, struck out five, and hit two batters. Lilana Arana faced two batters, walking both. Offensively, six different RedHawks had one hit. Hernandez's double was the only Miami extra-base hit of Game Two. NEXT: Miami is scheduled to host Ball State in a single game Saturday at 1 p.m. Changes are possible due to weather conditions.
