Olive leads offense as Miami completes sweep of Rockets RedHawks score 34 runs, commit 0 errors in 3-game series TOLEDO, OH -- Katy Olive went 4-4 with a homer and double as Miami (30-12. 12-6 MAC) banged out 16 hits in an 11-0 shutout of Toledo (12-28, 8-10 MAC) Sunday at Scott Park. Presley Hosick (12-4) picked up the shutout win, hurling all seven innings on just 76 pitchings while striking out four and walking two. Mady Yackee (3-7) took the loss. She allowed 10 hits . . . Presley Hoskick picked up two wins, including a no-hitter, as Miami limited the Rockets to two runs over three games. (MVSmith/MRO file) . . . and six runs. Lexi Johnson logged two innings, giving up five runs (1 earned) and six hits. • As they had all weekend, the RedHawks struck early -- this time with four first inning runs. Bailey Manos doubled and Mia Estrello walked before Danitza Hernandez singled in Manos. Toledo erased two with a double play, but Hernandez survived and scored on Evey Dieudonne's single to right center. Olive folowed with home run that gave Miami a quick 4-0 lead. • Neither team scored again until the fifth. Campbell followed Hernandez' one-out single with a home run. • Both teams threatened in the sixth but came up empty. Toledo had the bases loaded with one out, but Hosick induced a pop-up and ground out to escape unscathed. • After two quick outs, MU rallied for five runs on four hits, a hit batter and Toledo error. Olive got it started with a single and came on on Erin Pinter's double to right center. Carter was hit by a pitch and pinch hitter Madie Patton reached firston an error. Pinter scored on the play. Manos followed with a two-run double . Estrello added one more run -- the 11th -- on a single to right. Toledo managed two hits in its final at-bat, but a double-play and ground out ended the contest. NEXT: Miami travels to Northern Kentucky for a non-onference game Tuesday (4 p.m.). The RedHawks then return to MAC play Friday (3 p.m.) against Ball State in Oxford. Those two teams will then meet again Saturday, with the double header starting at 1 p.m. NOTES:
• Akron leads the MAC standings with a 15-3 mark. The Zips have won nine straight. Northern Illinois (12-5) is second and is riding a six-game winning streak. Miami (12-6). is third • Miami outscored UT 34-2 in the three-game series. Thirteen of the runs came in the seventh inning, and Saturday's second game only went six innings. • In addition to Olive's big day, Manos (3), Hernandez (2) and Campbell (2) had multi-hit afternoons. • The RedHawk defense played error-less softball in the three-game series.
