Basketball, softball notes • • • REDHAWKS STILL RISING • • • • The Miami University men's basketball team was picked No. 19 overall (highest ranking of the 2025-26 season) in the Associated Press Top 25 men's college basketball poll on Monday afternoon. This is the highest ranking since Miami was selected No. 19 on March 13, 1978. The Red and White currently have a 29-0 (16-0 MAC) record, as they most recently earned a pair of road victories at Eastern Michigan (74-64) and Western Michigan (69-67). Miami is back in action Tuesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. versus Toledo on ESPN+. • • • • STEELE FINED • • • • Miami men's basketball head coach Travis Steele has been fined $2,500 by the Mid-American Conference, according to a news release Monday on the league website. The notice cited unsportsmanlike conduct by Steele, who got into a heated argument with officials and knocked over some audio equipment at courtside while heading to the MU locker room. Steele "will also reimburse for damages to equipment that may have occurred during this incident." • • • • REDHAWK SOFTBALL RECORD • • • • Miami softball recorded 14 wins in the month of February.
