Miami RedHawk football fans won't see Dequan Finn's name on the team's depth chart any more this year. The RedHawks starter is" moving on," according to Miami Head Coach Chuck Martin.

"At this point he's going to move on. He's got a shot to play at the next level. He's going to train and get ready to do that," Martin said at Friday's weekly press conference. "We will not see him the rest of the year. We're moving forward with the guys we've got."

Finn missed . . .

. . . Saturday's tilt against his former Toledo team with a reported illness. Backup Henry Hesson, who led Miami to a win over Lindenwood Sept. 27, filled in but struggled against one of the MAC's top defensive teams. He completed just 11 of 38 passes totaling 147 yards with three interceptions.

Hesson figures to start the remaining two games -- both of which are critical. Miami needs two wins to even have a shot at reaching the MAC game. It also is one win short of bowl eligibility.

Finn, who spent most of his collegiate career as a dual-threat quarterback for Toledo, transferred to Baylor but played saw little action before an injury ended his 2024 season.

Finn went into the portal again last off-season and joined Miami as a replacement for graduated Brett Gabbert. Finn started eight of nine contests for MU, missing only the Lindenwood game following a concussion against UNLV the previous week.

Most recently, he led the RedHawks in a 24-20 loss to rival Ohio. However, Finn did not play last week against his former team -- Toledo -- and will not be playing in the home finale against Ball State.
