RedHawks face Rockets in 'Savage' road test Four MAC teams remain undefeated and two of them will face off Friday as Miami visits Toledo at Savage Arena. Tipoff time is 6 p.m., and the game will be shown on CBSSN. The RedHawks are riding a season-opening 16-game winning streak, while UT has won four straight. Miami won . . . . . . last year's only meeting, 92-80. Kam Craft led the way, scoring 40 points, with 27 coming from beyond the arc.
Craft is now with Georgia Tech, averaging 22.0 minutes and 7.3 ppg. But while he isn't available, the RedHawsks continue to be a potent scoring machine. Five MU players are averaging in double figures and a sixth contributes 9.3 ppg. Brant Byers (14.8 ppg) leads Miami scorers on the year, but multiple players have earned game-high honors through 16 games. Alma Atlason, a transfer from Bradley, failed to score two games ago but erupted for a game-high 21 points Tuesday in Miami's win over Western Michigan. Toledo, which is averaging 82.1 ppg (fifth MAC) also has five players averaging double figures. Junior guard Sonny Wilson (16.0 ppg) leads the bunch. He scored a team-high 23 points in last year's meeting with Miami. Overall, he connected on 9 of 11 from the floor, including all three trey attempts. • Miami (78.4%) and Toledo (76.8%) rank 1-2, repectively, in free throw percentage. • The Rockets are third in turnover margin (3.20), while MU is fifth (2.19). • Forward Sean Craig is second among MAC rebounders, pulling down 87.8 rpg). • Toledo leads the MAC in attendance (3,880) Comments are closed.
