RedHawks fight off Falcon challenges By MIKE SMITH COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Brent Byers and Antwone Woolfolk led the way as the Miami RedHawks posted their first road win of 2025-26 with a 78-61 victory at Air Force. Byers scored 18 points while hitting 6 of 17 from the floor. He was one of three RedHawks in double figures. Point guard Evan Ipsaro sank 5 of 7 shots overall, finishing with 12 points and seven assists. Luke Skaljac added 10 points. Two RedHawks contributed . . . . . . nine points. One was Woolfolk, who just missed a double-double while playing 22 minutes in his return to action. He missed MU's win over Trinity.. Woolfolk recorded a personal bes 13 rebounds, along with three blocks) against Air Force. Pete Suder, who dropped 42 points on the Falcons last December, tallied nine this time. Air Force never led but to cut down big Miami leads in each half. Miami turnovers/Falcon steals contributed to the runs as Air Force finished with 10 steals. Almar Atlason's triple at 14:54 gave Miami an early 18-8 lead before the hosts ran off six straight points.The RedHawks led 40-26 at intermission. Miami maintained a cushion early in the second half. When Byers followed another Atlason trey with back-to-back triples, MU led 51-35 with 15:53 to play. A 14-2 Air Force run cut the RedHawks lead to four points (53-49). at 11:27. Woolfolk then came up with a steal and dunk to get MU going again. When Skaljac hit a jumper at 8:08, Miami was up 63-49. The Falcons could get no closer than nine points after that. NOTES:
• Air Force recorded 14 points off turnovers, while MU had 12. • The RedHawks had a 30-20 edge on points in the paint and 41-31 advantage from rebounds. • MU launched 31 treys, sinking 13 (42%). AF was 5 of 18 (28%). • Ipsaro's seven assists matched a personal career high. • Miami shot just five free throws on the day, sinking three. Air Force was 14 of 22 (63.6%) from the stripe. • Caleb Walker (17) and Lucas Hobin (16) led Falcon scorers. Comments are closed.
