Basketball names three captains for 2026-27 campaign  OXFORD, Ohio-- Miami men's basketball head coach Travis Steele announced today that senior forward Almar Atlason, senior guard Evan Ipsaro and junior guard Luke Skaljac will be the team's captains for the 2026-27 season. In his first season with the Red and White, Atlason played in 34 games where he averaged 9.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He scored a season-high 26 points after knocking down five triples at Ball State. Ipsaro returns . . . . . . to the court this season after missing the final 22 games of the 2025-26 season due to injury. Prior to the injury, Ipsaro (a Lou Henson Award Early Season Watch list nominee) averaged 13.9 points, 3.2 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals.
Skaljac earned All-MAC Third Team honors after appearing in 32 games and starting in 21 games for the RedHawks in 2025-26. He produced a career-high 24 points versus Bowling Green and added a double-double (18 points and 10 assists) against Buffalo. Skaljac also recorded the most assists per game (4.7) for the RedHawks and finished the season ranking 64th in the country in assist/turnover ratio (2.57). Comments are closed.
