RedHawks happy to run; cruise past UAPB OXFORD, OH -- Junior guard Evan Ipsaro hit all nine free throws on the way to a career-high 20 points and five RedHawks reached double figures as Miami downed Arkansas-Pine Bluff 111-84 Sunday at Millett Hall. With the victory, MU stayed undefeated in five outings and UAPB remained winless in eight outings. In his post-game . . . . . . comments, Miami Head Coach Travis Steele noted the Golden Lions were among the nation's top 20 teams in pace of play. He was, therefore, expecting an an uptempo game after two recent contests against more deliberate opponents (Air Force and Mercyhurst). He got it. Trey Perry scores two of his 15 points in Miami's win over Arkansas Pine Bluff. The freshman was one of five RedHawks in double figures. The RedHawks gradually expanded their lead and took a 56-36 advantage to intermission. Miami connected on 57.1 percent from the floor and 46.2 percent on threes during the opening period. UAPB hit 36.4 percent from the field and 28.6 percent outside the arc. MU also cashed in at the charity striple, sinking 18 of 20 (90%), while the Golden Lions knocked down all eight of their opportunities. The visitors shot better (44.4 percent) overall and made more field goals (16/28) in the second half. They also got to the foul line more, hitting 13 of 17 chances. It led to a 12-point improvement over their first half production. Miami, however, also improved by shooting 55.6 percent from the field, including 50 percent (5 of 10) on threes. The RedHawks also made 10 of 12 free throws after intermission. The RedHawks' lead never dipped below 17 points (75-58, 10:49) in the second half, and MU finished with a 37-point margin of victory. • Joining Ipsaro in double figures for Miami were Peter Suder (17), Trey Perry (15 off the bench), Antwone Woolfolk (14) and Brant Byers (10). • Jaquan Scott led UAPB with a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. Jai'chaunn Hayes added 15, followed by Milhan Charles (13), Quion Williams (12) and Trevon Payton (10). • Miami's bench poured in 46 bench points. • Miami scored 50 points in the paint compared to 36 from Arkansas – Pine Bluff. • The RedHawks won their 19th consecutive home game. • Miami takes on UNC Greensboro on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. in a neutral site game at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Fla. • Guard Peter Suder was back in the lineup Sunday, and he provided one of the first half highlights with a no-look behind the back pass to Skaljac for a two-foot bunny layup during Miami's 11-0 run.
