Indiana defense, interior offense too much for MU Hoosiers end Miami win streak By MIKE SMITH BLOOMINGTON, IN -- Hosting Indiana capitalized on its inside game for offense and held Miami to 23.3 percent from the field in the second half to defeat the RedHawks 76-57 Friday at Assembly Hall. The verdict broke a three game win streak for MU, which fell to 5-3 on the campaign. The Hoosiers moved to 7-2. Miami started slow, falling behind 14-3 before . . . . . . Peter Suder scored MU's second field goal at the 14:12 mark. He added a free throw to complete the and-one but would finish the half with just five points. The RedHawks still trailed by 12 with 5:15 left in the period but began to chip away. Luke Skaljac, who contributed seven first half points, brought MU within two with 23 seconds left and the RedHawks trailed 39-36 at intermission. Miami was still within five (55-50) after a Skaljac trey at 10:08 of the final stanza, but it would not hit another field goal until 2:57 remained. A Myles Rice and-one at 2:20 gave IU it largest lead of the game, 54-74 and the hosts finished with a 19-point win. Indiana connected on 53.8 percent from the field in the second half. The RedHawks hit 23.3 percent. Skaljac led Miami with 14 points, hitting 5-of-10 from the field and 2-of-4 from outside the arc. Eian Elmer (11 points) was the only other RedHawk in double figures. Peter Suder, who hit 17-of-21 from the field while scoring a career-high 42 Monday against Air Force, finished with nine points at IU after connecting on 2-of-10. Indiana put four in double figures. Malik Reneau, a 6-9 forward, led the way with 19 points. Myles Rice missed just one shot from the field while scoring 17, while 7-0 center Oumar Ballo registered a double-double of 14 points and 18 rebounds. Trey Galloway tallied 13 points. Reneau and Ballo were a major matchup problem for MU all night, eventually putting Miami's bigs in foul trouble. Reece Potter fouled out and Antwone Woolfolk finished with four fouls and and ice pack on his face after contact late in the game. NOTES:
