Second half comeback keeps RedHawks in win column Underdog Spartans owned double-digit lead By MRO STAFF JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Peter Suder scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead Miami (5-0) past UNC Greensboro (1-7) in Riley Decker Showcase action Wednesday at the Adams Jenkins Complex. After leading 16-15 with 12 minutes remaining in the opening period, MU built its lead to seven points (24-17). It was a 28-23 RedHawk lead when . . . . . . the Spartans went on a run, eventually building an 11-point advantage. UNCG led 42-34 at intermission.
The Spartains remained in front and owned a seven-point edge (58-51) when MU went on a 13-4 run. Miami took the lead for good 64-62 on a Suder triple at 7:18. Almar Atlason (7) and Brant Byers (3) combined for the next 10 points. The Spartans could get no closer than five (74-69) with 3:13 remaining, and Miami finished with an 11-point edge. NOTES • Miami hosts Indiana East on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. • Miami is now 6-0 to start a season for the first time since the 1995-96 season. • The RedHawks scored 26 points off turnovers. • Joining Suder in double figures for Miami were Atlason (18) and Byers (11). • KJ Younger led the Spartains with 14 points. Justin Neely recorded a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. • UNCG out-rebounded Miami 37-30 overall. • Neither team shot particularly well from long range.
