RedHawks face Broncos in Tuesday 'tweener' game

Tuesday's matchup against Western Michigan is the middle of two big games in six days for Miami. The RedHawks survived a hard-fought battle with Akron (76-73) Saturday and will meet Toledo Friday at Savage Arena. The Rockets are 2-0 in MAC play through Sunday.

Western Michigan is fresh off a loss to the Rockets, falling 79-67 Saturday in Toledo. WMU is 6-8 overall and still looking for its first MAC win after two conference setbacks. 

Miami and WMU tip off at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Millett Hall in Oxford. The game will be shown on ESPN+

This Tuesday's home contest . . . 

. . . against the Broncos will be the 144th meeting between the two programs. Miami leads the series 90-53 all-time, as the Red and White are 55-13 when playing in Oxford against the Broncos. Miami is currently on a one-game losing streak against the Broncos, as the RedHawks fell 78-70 in Kalamazoo on Feb. 15, 2025.

MORE ON WESTERN MICHIGAN
•  Western Michigan went 12-20 (9-9 MAC) last year. Head coach Dwayne Stephens is in his fourth season with the Broncos. Heading into the 2025-26 season, 
•   Western Michigan was selected to finish 10th overall in the 2025-26 MAC Preseason Men's Basketball Poll. 
•  Junior guard Jalen Griffith (15.5/game) and senior guard Jayden Brewer (13.0/game) lead the Broncos offense in points. Griffith also leads the team in assists (4.5/game) and steals (1.3/game), while Brewer averages the most rebounds (7.5/game) and blocks (1.1/game). 
•  The Broncos rank 10th among MAC teams in scoring (75.9 ppg) and are 12th in scoring defense (78.8 ppg).
•  WMU has connected on 45.1 percent from the field overall (10th MAC) and is sixth in 3-point percentage (33.3%).
•  The Broncos are fourth in rebounding (38.3 rpg) but are last/13th in turnover margin (-3.43).

MORE ON MIAMI
•  The Red and White enter this game with a 15-0 record, its best start to a season in program history. •  Miami ranks among the top of the nation in numerous statistical categories heading into this game, which includes being first in the country in effective field goal percentage (0.634), first in field goal percentage (53.6), second in three-point percentage (42.8), fifth in threes per game (11.7), ninth in scoring offense (93.7), 10th in scoring margin (21.7), 13th in free throw percentage (78.3), 32nd in defensive rebounds per game (28.27), 38th in bench points per game (33.00), 40th in assists per game (17.7) and 45th in assist/turnover ratio (1.57).
•  Miami's starting five accounted for all 76 points against Akron Saturday. Four starters reached double figures, led by Brant Byers' 26 points. Peter Suder was just one point short of double figures, but finished with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists.
