MU makes history with Reese/Jacoby repeat!! CLEVELAND, Ohio – Miami University swept the Reese Trophy and Jacoby Trophy in 2025-26 for the third time in the past seven years and the fifth time in school history, the Mid-American Conference announced today. This is the first time in history that a MAC program has captured both trophies in back-to-back seasons. The RedHawks won their second-straight Reese Trophy (and 27th overall) as the top men's athletic program in the MAC during the 2025-26 academic year. Steele inks contract extention OXFORD, Ohio – On Wednesday, May 27, Miami's Director of Athletics David Sayler announced that head men's basketball coach Travis Steele has signed a contract extension that runs through the 2033-34 basketball season. WDTN IN DAYTON REPORTS Steele will earn a base salary of $850,000 per year, with an additional $150,000 retention bonus for each year he returns. Miami’s buyout is 80 percent of the remaining total value of the base salary and retention bonuses. "Coming off two consecutive record breaking seasons for Miami Basketball, I am thrilled to announce that we have signed Coach Steele to an extended contract to continue coaching here at Miami," said Sayler. Hall of Fame Class to be recognized Sept. 25 OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University Athletics will recognize one team and seven worthy and deserving candidates in its Hall of Fame Class of 2026. This year's Hall of Fame Class is Stephanie Danesis (tennis), Dea Dechant (field hockey), Patrick Flavin (golf), Ron Harper (men's basketball), Mary Haskell O'Leary (administration), Andy Miele (ice hockey) and Kelsey Vehr (women's swimming). Miami is also inducting the 2006-07 skating team, just the second team in school history to make the Miami Hall of Fame. The 2026 class will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 25 with a dinner. Steele adds Dakich to coaching staff OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University head men's basketball coach Travis Steele has announced the hiring of Andrew Dakich as an assistant coach. Dakich joins the RedHawks after spending the last four seasons on the coaching staff at Illinois State University. "I am excited to add Andrew Dakich to our program. I have known Andrew for a very long time. He has a terrific basketball pedigree from his playing days at Michigan and Ohio State, along with his coaching career at Elon and Illinois State," said Steele. "Andrew has an extensive player development pedigree, specifically with guards. He also has a reputation for being a very good offensive coach. With the losses, MU failed to make it to Day Two of a tournament it won in each of the past four seasons. First, No. 6 seed Western Michigan (27-24) used a five-run fifth to get past No. 3 seed Miami 7-4. Seven RedHawks were honored with All-MAC honors; First Team All-MAC for the Red and White were Mckenna Campbell, Presley Hosick, Danitza Hernandez, Mia Estrello, and Bailey Manos. RedHawks begin tourney journey against Broncos MU finally healthier in final weeks of regular season The Miami RedHawks open Mid-American Conference Softball Tournament play Wednesday (2:20 p.m.). They'll face Western Michigan. Unlike recent years, when MU was able to win a regular season title, this year's group finished third and is, therefore, a No. 3 seed. Western Michigan is a No. 6 seed. Should Miami win, it would play No. 2 seed Northern Illinois Thursday (2:30 p.m.). If MU loses the opener, it will face Either No. 4 Ohio or No. 5 Central Michigan at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
