Going to Athens is tough enough. The Bobcats have lost just two games at the Convocation Center this year. The only Mid-American Conference home loss was to Toledo (86-83) back on Jan. 28. Ohio is second among MAC teams in attendance (4,225 per game), and its safe to speculate that they can pretty much pack the Convo for a Saturday afternoon battle against rival Miami. RedHawks blast Northern Illinois; set new record ![]() OXFORD, OH -- Eian Elmer and Brant Byers scored 22 points apiece, while the RedHawks' bench contributed 49 points as Miami (21-7, 12-3 MAC) cruised by Northern Illinois (5-23, 1-14 MAC) 87-58 Tuesday at Millett Hall. It was the 14th consecutive home win for Miami, setting a new school record. Meanwhile, the 12 MAC wins are MU's most since 2005-06. Northern Illinois, meanwhile lost its ninth straight game and moved a step closer to finishing its MAC experience in last place. RedHawks ranked No. 21 in latest Mid-Major Top 25 Poll ![]() The Miami University men's basketball team was selected to the Mid-Major Top 25® Poll for the seventh consecutive week on Monday. The RedHawks rank No. 21 in the rankings after going 1-1 last week. Now in its 26th season, the Mid-Major Top 25® is voted on by 31 Division I coaches. With Friday's victory, Miami has reached 20 wins in a season for the first time since 1998-99 and matched the most consecutive home wins (13) in a single season. Football adds game at Nebraska ![]() Miami looks to continue its 13-game home court winning streak Tuesday when the RedHawks host Northern Illinois. It will likely be the last chance for Miami fans to see NIU for a while. Huskie football moves to the Mountain West next year. With a couple exceptions, most other NIU sports will compete in the Horizon League. Tuesday will mark the 58th time Miami and Northern Illinois have faced off. The RedHawks head into this game leading the series 36-21. Miami leads the series in Oxford 24-6. For what its worth, NIU has been VERY competitive in recent contests. It fell to Ball State in overtime Feb. 15 and stayed with then-MAC-undefeated Akron before falling 73-63. Last Saturday, NIU led Eastern Michigan 76-69 with 1:21 to go, but several Huskie turnovers helped the visitors score 10 straight points. The victory gave Miami a split on the day, with the RedHawks falling to No. 16 Mississippi State 11-7 in Game 1. Both contests were part of the Rocket City Showcase. MU went 1-4 in the event, falling to a pair of Top 20 teams -- No. 18 Auburn and No. 16 Mississippi State, as well as unranked Mississippi/Ole Miss.
